What are JCN Collectives?
JCN Collectives are small, focused volunteer groups where community members channel their skills, networks, and passions directly into environmental action. The concept is simple: find your people, find your focus, and get to work.
Currently forming are five founding Collectives: Government Relations, Content and Media, Network Building, Climate Incubator, and Education. Each group has its own focus, its own lead, and its own sense of purpose. And if you have an idea that isn't on this list, we want to hear from you.
The Five Founding Collectives:
Government Relations strengthens relationships with parliamentarians and ensures the Jewish community has a bold voice in Australia's climate conversations.
Content and Media creates content telling the story of Jewish climate leadership to wider audiences.
Network Building grows the community of Jewish climate professionals connected to JCN's mission.
Climate Incubator supports entrepreneurial thinkers with new ideas for ventures in the green economy.
Education provides resources and support for educators as well as facilitating educational programs throughout the community.
What Collectives? Why now?
The Jewish community holds remarkable commercial, philanthropic, and political capacity. Collectives are the structure that turns that potential into action. They lower the barrier to entry, offer multiple ways to contribute, and create real entry points for people who want to do more than attend events. Whether you have a few hours a month or more, there is a place for you.
How do they work?
Each Collective needs at least three members to get off the ground and is led by a nominated Lead who liaises with a dedicated JCN staff member. Groups decide how often they meet and whether that is in person, online, or hybrid. JCN's offices are available to book for meetings, and each Collective has an annual budget to bring ideas to life.
Every Lead receives training in volunteer management, meeting facilitation, JCN's Theory of Change, and JCN operations. Additional training is available on request, covering skills from project management to policy writing, depending on the Collective's focus.
"I'm most excited about contributing to a project that provides an integral, honest voice to conversations so muddied by misinformation and misunderstanding, particularly around climate, Judaism and anti-Semitism."
"I would absolutely recommend getting involved with a JCN Collective. They are shaped by those who get involved, so you can make your impact in a way that works for you."
